About the studio

KokoPilates started in a shared commercial space in White Rock in 2015. Since 2016, the studio has been in Los Alamos. Its current space has been newly refurbished with a modern industrial vibe. The full array of Balanced Body® equipment allows a wide variety of different exercises designed to provide just enough support so a student can focus on alignment and control while moving through the exercises.

Reformers are the most common apparatus of the Pilates equipment and KokoPilates has convertible Reformer/Tower units that provide amazing versatility. A Cadillac (trapeze table), Ladder Barrels, and EXO Chairs are also utilized during classes and private sessions.

Theresa Wilson, Owner

The motivation and fun of lunch-hour group fitness classes provided Theresa with a welcome mid-day diversion. But, it also sparked the thought of becoming part of this instructor community. Eventually, she enrolled in a personal training certification program at University of New Mexico and that was the beginning of a long journey helping others with the stress, absence of self-care, and end-of-day lethargy that affect so many of us. One certification was followed by others: yoga, studio cycling, Pilates, and TRX. She spent many hours teaching before and after work and on weekends at several different fitness locations. Owning her own studio was not part of the plan but life takes interesting twists and turns.

Rachel Mohr-Richards, Certified Instructor

Rachel discovered Pilates at KokoPilates in 2019 while working at a stressful and sedentary job.  The profound mind/body connection and physical benefits Rachel found through Pilates transformed her life. Rachel began her journey to become a Certified Pilates Instructor in October 2022 through Balanced Body.  Under Theresa’s mentorship, she obtained her certification in July 2024. Rachel enjoys working with clients at every level in their Pilates journey.  She especially likes helping clients identify and correct chronic maladaptive postural issues that can cause pain and impair everyday, functional movement. When she’s not teaching at Kokopilates, Rachel is the Executive Director of a nonprofit organization in Los Alamos.  She enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and reading.
